Enter to Win RPA Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award; Deadline Aug. 21

Wednesday, Aug. 21, is the last day to enter to win the Reusable Packaging Association’s Excellence in Reusable Packaging Award. The award recognizes companies that have developed, supported, or implemented measurable and innovative reusable solutions in a business-to-business supply chain. Anyone can enter a submission; entrants do not need to be a member of the RPA. Submissions will be reviewed by an independent committee of judges who are not members of the RPA.

“I strongly encourage end users and suppliers from all industries to enter the competition,” said Jerry Welcome, President of the RPA. “This is a great opportunity to gain recognition for your company’s sustainability initiatives.”

Eligible companies must have participated in the reusable packaging industry as of September 1, 2012. Companies will be judged on the quantifiable environmental and economic benefits of their reusable packaging solutions and services.

Herman Miller Inc. won the award in 2012 for its reusable packaging initiative that is saving the company $46,000 annually in material and labor. “Winning the award gave my team internal recognition for our efforts which is always welcome, and the company as a whole received visibility for our sustainability efforts in the media,” said Cindy Doman, Packaging Engineering, Greenhouse, Herman Miller. “All the recognition flowed from materials created by the RPA when we won the award, so we received a lot of value without much work on our part other than creating the submission.”
